Cultural Tour Guide

Maricela Muñoz

I am a passionate private tour guide in Mexico City, where I was born and raised. I have been licensed by the Mexican Secretariat of Tourism since 2005 and have academic training in Anthropology (National School of Anthropology and History) and Art History (Universidad Iberoamericana).

I am also a born traveler; I had the great opportunity to live in France for 5 years, where I studied at the Louvre Museum's Art School, and in Asia for 6 years, where I was part of a regional cultural project led by the Mexican Embassy in the Philippines. Exposure to alternative societies allowed me to recognize and appreciate the uniqueness of Mexican cultural heritage, which has progressively been revealed to me.

Learning is my number one hobby, and I continue to update my knowledge as much as my schedule allows. I take courses on my favorite cultural topics, attend conferences by specialists, visit museum and gallery exhibitions, and watch specialized documentaries. Leading tours is an activity that combines my greatest passions: teaching, exchanging ideas with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, and speaking several languages.

I have 19 years of experience designing and leading cultural experiences for discerning travelers, embassies, national and international academic and cultural institutions, museum sponsors, international art events, multinational corporations, high-end travel agencies, 5-star and luxury hotels, international event planners, and more.

I am fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Italian.
